Picture an apartment community where the rent doesn’t swallow a mom whole. Where the mom next door is learning the same remote-work skill you are. Where someone can point you to childcare, legal aid, or a food bank without judgment — and where your kids are growing up watching their mother build something. That’s what we’re building.
The problem we’re solving
Across South Florida, rents have climbed far faster than wages — and single mothers feel it first. When housing eats half a paycheck or more, there’s nothing left for savings, for training, for the breathing room that lets a family get ahead. Moms end up making impossible choices: the rent or the car repair, the groceries or the electric bill, staying in a bad situation because leaving means homelessness.
Most affordable housing stops at the apartment. We think that’s only half the answer. A below-market rent keeps a family housed; skills, support, and community are what help a family rise.
The Abundant Mom community
Our vision is to purchase apartment communities in South Florida that are rented primarily to moms who need support — and to run them differently:
- Below-market rents. Rent set meaningfully below what the market charges, so a working mom can actually get ahead instead of just getting by.
- An itemized rent “invoice.” Every mom sees exactly what her rent covers — utilities, water, landscaping, maintenance — so she learns the true cost of running a household. Financial education starts at home, literally.
- Remote-work training. Practical, mom-schedule-friendly training for real remote jobs, so earning doesn’t require choosing between a paycheck and being present for your kids.
- An online course library. Sales training, business skills, and career development a mom can work through after bedtime.
- A services roster. Vetted connections to food banks, childcare resources, legal aid, and nonprofit services — the practical help that keeps small problems from becoming crises.
- Financial-literacy support. Budgeting, credit, and planning skills woven into community life, not delivered as a lecture.
- Real community. Neighbors who get it. Playdates, shared wisdom, and the kind of village every mom deserves.
A path toward homeownership
Stability is the floor, not the ceiling. Our long-term goal is to create a genuine path toward homeownership for the moms in our communities — including exploring rent-to-own structures down the road. We want to be clear and honest: rent-to-own is a future goal, not a current promise. We will only offer what we can responsibly deliver, and we’d rather under-promise and over-deliver than the reverse.
Where we start
South Florida is home — it’s where our founder lives, where the need is acute, and where our community is. Our founding fundraising goal of $250,000 is the first step toward acquiring and preparing our first community. From there, the model is designed to grow: each community strengthening the next, each mom’s story becoming proof of what’s possible.
